Curator's Corner

TABLA.INC, THE CREATIVE ARTS ACADEMY & OOPSROOPS presented “Give to Gain” on the occasion of Women’s Day 2026, featuring “Curator’s Corner: Behind the Scenes – The Art and Alchemy of Curation.” Moderated by Smita Roychowdhury, Editor of T2 at The Telegraph, the session was held on 25 February 2026 at The Creative Arts Academy. The evening brought together leading voices from diverse creative fields to reflect on the often unseen yet crucial role of curators in shaping concerts, festivals and cultural platforms.

The panel featured Malavika Banerjee, Nandita Palchowdhury, Lopamudra Mitra, Bonnya Bose, Ramanjit Kaur, Srabanee Chakraborty, Roopsha Dasgupta, and Sonali Basu, each bringing perspectives from literature, music, theatre, media, entrepreneurship and craft revival. The conversation highlighted how curators navigate artistic vision, logistical realities and audience engagement while creating meaningful cultural experiences. The panelists shared insights from their own journeys—discussing the challenges of sustaining cultural initiatives, the importance of nurturing artists, and the responsibility of preserving both tangible and intangible artistic traditions.

The aim of the event was to initiate a thoughtful dialogue on the significance of cultural curation and the need for stronger support systems for artists and cultural practitioners in India. The discussion emphasized that art and culture must be viewed not merely as entertainment but as a vital part of the nation’s heritage and creative ecosystem, deserving long-term institutional support and sustained patronage. The evening concluded with a sense of shared commitment to fostering spaces where artists, curators and audiences can continue to engage in meaningful cultural exchange.
